Spring
View 56 Warrington IMBRL went in search of more league points at fellow new boys Spring View but after 80 minutes of tough rugby league were sent well and truly packing. As has been the case with many of this seasons new entrants to division six, View had already shown in the earlier rounds of the season that they were playing in a league too low for their quality and so it proved again on Saturday. In the build up to the campaign the physical side had only conceded 30 points in 6 games but were lagging behind on the league ladder due to the amount of matches that had been post-poned. Their home pitch again caused problems on Saturday too, with standing water and stones from the foundations evident from the word go and as both sides tried to come to terms with the conditions it was View who went into an early 10-0 lead. The Wolves hit back and should have responded soon after following fine work by Karl Case as he carved out the opportunity for Jonathan Knight to cross. However the second-rower slipped with the line open and the chance went begging. In truth it was one of very few bright moments for IMBRL who were dominated throughout by View and by the interval they had cemented a 26-0 lead. Into the second period IMBRL attempted to up their defensive effort but it was to no avail as with victory assured the home side began to put some of their attacking moves in places. Andy Hawley missed one of IMBRL’s very few opportunities to score in the second-half when his penalty goal went adrift as View finished in dominant fashion. Pack men Nat Ashurst, Neil Ashurst, John Williams and Mark Moore tried hard up the middle of the park for the visitors on a forgettable day, whilst man of the match was Hawley. Wolves: Danny Elliott, Tom Mahoney, Stephen Lenihan, Matt Lawton, Andy Mahoney, Andy Hawley, Karl Case, Nat Ashurst, Mark Moore, Neil Ashurst, John Williams, Jonathan Knight, Jon Westwood. Subs: Rick Lenihan, Paul Arnison, Matt Lister. |
