Bank Bulldogs 36 Warrington IMBRL were defeated in their first ever North West Counties Cup game but not before putting up a good showing away in St Helens at Moss Bank Bulldogs. Warrington opened the first-half well with a penalty goal from Andy Hawley but as the home side got on top they were only able to register further via a Stephen Lenihan try and Hawley conversion. Trailing 22-8 at half-time IMBRL were in trouble at the start of the second-half as the Bulldogs registered first but from then on in the visitors turned the game on its head and came storming back. Tries by prop forward duo Neil and Nat Ashurst plus a score from Liam O’Brien and two Hawley goals had the home side on the rocks and for the final moments IMBRL peppered the Bulldogs line only to have a seemingly fine effort by Lenihan ruled out for a double movement. As it was time was the biggest enemy for IMBRL who took a great deal from the contest. Wolves: Liam
O’Brien, Matt Lawton, Stephen Lenihan, Jonathan Knight, Rick Lenihan,
Andy Hawley, Karl Case, Nat Ashurst, Kyle Holcroft, Neil Ashurst, John
Williams, Mick Austin, Dave Heathwood. Subs:
