Warrington
Wolves IMBRL 0 After a week off, Warrington went into the clash against high flying Leigh expecting to be as competitive as ever but the nature of the defeat subsequently proved to be an embarrassment for all concerned. Ahead of the contest the Wolves lost four of the players who had been in action during the sensational win over Newton but even so, still had enough in their ranks to give anyone a game. In truth the home side did show early signs of being competitive and in an eagerly contested first 35 minutes, only trailed 0-12. That score should have been even more positive for IMBRL who failed to capitalise on two of their own chances to score points. Knowing they were more than in a contest, Central even opted for a shot at a field goal late in the first half and strangely it was the start of IMBRL's downfall. Although the shot wasn't successful IMBRL failed to get the ball back into play and from the resulting drop out, Central then registered two back to back converted tries to take the game out to 0-24 in the blink of an eye. Leigh then put the game to bed as a contest with a further quick fire brace into the second period and as the Wolves lost heart the try procession continued as Central began to execute training ground moves with destructive effect. Warrington's response to the onslaught was at best disappointing as time and time again they failed to do the basics, and in the process made life even easier for the gifted Leigh side. On a most disappointing of day’s man of the match was Karl Case whilst Nat Ashurst and Neil Ashurst did their best to resist the Leigh onslaught in both attack and defence. Wolves
