Paul
Arnison – Prop
Originally alien to the game “Geordie” took to the sport
like a duck to water and was one of those who got dug in from day
one. Whether in a playing, coaching or media sense Paul has always
been there for the club and had his best season so far in 2005 as
he smashed his way through IMBRL defences up and down the country.
Has also had a run out for various NWC clubs during 2006 including
Southport and Crosfields "A".

Nat
Ashurst – Loose Forward
Nat is an IMBRL regular who always puts in 100%. This commitment
quite often puts him in the running for the top tackling award.
Such passion has earned him a number of club awards too including
Players Player in 2003 & 2005 and Player of the Year in 2004.
Nat also holds the club record of 39 tackles in one game against
Wigan in 2004. His previous clubs have included Latchford &
Crosfields at junior level and Priestley College. He also played
for Cadishead Rhinos in NWC4 during the 2005-06 season. |
 |
Neil
Ashurst - Prop
A Player who leads by example all day long and who has used his
past amateur experience with Crosfields and Salford University to
great effect. A powerful ball playing prop who has continued to
crash his way through opponents since joining IMBRL from the beginning.
The clubs Players Player of the Year in 2004 and also had a spell
in NWC with Cadishead Rhinos in 2006. |
 |
Karl
Case - Scrum Half
IMBRL’s very latest signing at the back end of 2005 who made
a great start to things against Leigh. A strong running centre who
hits the holes well and can also stand up and be counted in defence.
Another youngster who looks set to mature within the setup and has
a fine future ahead of him in the amateur game.

Gaz
Edwards - Centre
A player who joined IMBRL in 2004 and showed signs of what he was
capable of. Good upper body strength coupled with a fine step made
him a very tricky customer to deal with. Had an up and down 2005
and has become one of the clubs off the field heroes in recent times
helping with sideline duties. |
 |
Danny
Elliot – Prop
Danny was another new signing for IMBRL in 2005 and showed his willingness
to muck in for the cause when he helped out a depleted Hull KR side
and faced his new team-mates at Victoria Park. A handy ball carrier
who also had a number of run outs with Bank Quay Bulls “A”
in NWC 6 during 2006. |
 |
Andy
Hawley - Stand-off
A player of utility value who has spent time at centre, half-back
and hooker during his IMBRL career. The side’s regular goal-kicker
and a handy play maker who has accumulated a bag of points since
the onset of IMBRL in 2003. Spent the end of the 2005-06 NWC season
playing for Cadishead Rhinos in Division 4.

Kyle
Holcroft - Utility
A recent addition to the IMBRL playing staff who has suffered from
a string of leg injuries during his amateur career. Attempted to
make a comeback with IMBRL in 2005 but was then injured again against
the Donkeys. Looks to have a promising 2006 in front of him having
recovered to full fitness. A fine player to have in any squad due
to his wealth of experience gained at Woolston Rovers. Can play
in a range of positions both in the backs and forwards. |
 |
Jonathan
Knight - Centre / Second Row
Joined IMBRL in 2004 as a full-back before taking a break from the
team due to work commitments. Returned in 2006 looking stronger
than ever and was immediately placed in the pack that faced Wigan.
Has also been utilised at centre for IMBRL and is equally at home
in all positions. A strong runner and good defender who offers the
side some good utility value. |
 |
Matt
Lawton – Centre
Matt made a big impression from centre in 2005 adding a fine array
of tackling techniques to his armoury. Originally utilised for his
pace Matt’s big hits ensured very few opponents wished to
wonder his way. A quick player and good in the loose. Started 2006
with a very big bang indeed after he registered a hat-trick of tries
in the draw against Crosfields at Hood Lane.

Rick
Lenihan – Wing
Sonic made his “full contact” debut at the age of just
15 for the club in 2005 and never looked back following impressive
performances against both Castleford and Leigh. Confident when returning
the ball and a keen tackler. Correctly named Most Improved Player
in 2005. His experience gained whilst playing prop at junior level
has ensured a smooth transition to open age rugby. |
 |
Steve
Lenihan – Half Back
A former Crosfields junior player, Steve has matured into a fine
half-back and is currently a main stay of the successful Priestley
College side. Has also had trials with Ireland students and looks
set to be an influential player both now and in the future for IMBRL.
A player who is particularly useful to the side thanks to his fine
kicking game and great footwork meaning that he is a handful for
opponents to tackle. |
 |
Matt
Lister – Prop
Matt is the clubs good guy who personifies everything that IMBRL
is about. Has improved on a regular basis, year in, year out and
showed some of his good go forward skills in 2005. On his day can
be a big hitting defender and continues to work on all aspects of
his game in training. Particular improvement has been seen in his
tackling game at the start of 2006. |
 |
Richard
Liversidge - Centre
A player who took to the game late in the day but who has since
responded in fine IMBRL spirit. Has played at both centre or second
row for the team and has improved his game greatly since joining
up. One of the main reasons why the social side of the club still
remains in a healthy state of affairs. |
 |
Tom
Mahoney - Wing
Having just returned to Warrington from University, Tom has settled
in well to the side and the overall IMBRL ethos. Made his debut
for the club in 2006 against Wigan and then went straight into the
starting thirteen at full-back against Crosfields. Has also managed
to mix it up with the big boys despite his small frame. |
 |
Mark
Moore – Second Row
Alongside Paul Arnison, Mark helped greatly re-build and shape the
IMBRL ethos and the club following the departure of Steve Nixon
to Warrington Ladies at the start of 2005. Got the nod from the
players as their new coach of choice following his experience of
coaching within the ranks at Crosfields Juniors. Continues to pull
on the boots too and did well on the field as well as off it in
2005. |
 |
Liam
O’ Brien - Full Back
Youngster Liam joined IMBRL for the 2005 campaign and was an instant
success at full-back, which has been a problem position for the
club in recent years. Good under the high ball and a fine one on
one defender. Over time Liam has developed into a fine attacking
player with a great step and also represented Bank Quay Bulls “A”
in NWC6 during 2006. |
 |
Keith
Ryan - Prop
Keefy has been with IMBRL since the onset and also has some useful
experience whilst playing the game at amateur level in St Helens.
A big prop forward who can also off-load in the tackle. His fiery
approach and pride in the shirt help put opponents on the back foot.

Ashley
Whitfield – Wing
A regular with IMBRL since the onset of the team in 2003 and another
who enjoys social rugby. Ash always puts in everything to the cause
and is a loyal clubman. One of very few players who attempts to
attend every training session and has shown steady improvement year
in year out. Did particularly well for Warrington A in the 2005
tackle tournament at Crosfields. |
 |
John
Williams – Second Row
A player of immense power and strength who is a real hand full both
in attack and defence. Could well have made it big within the game
but opted for a more lasting career. Named Player of the Tournament
at the 2005 event at Crosfields an award which was voted for by
fellow peers. |
